Finding diorama figures in Hot Wheels scale is either really hard or really expensive… usually both. Crowds of them in fact. Follow the link here to see the range and availability of these hand painted and highly detailed scale figurines and make your Hot Wheels diorama really pop regular people pack shown in image below. In order for us to find scale figures for our Hot Wheels diorama we must accept the following truth: There are no scale figures. None of the Action Pack figures would fit inside the van….. I call FAIL. I would also like to point out that in my opinion the attempt from these various companies to produce true scale people is kind of a fail. Greenlight make figures that have different scale people within the same pack!

The first thing you are going to need is the shelf itself — or whatever flat surface you are choosing to utilise as your diorama base. The next thing to note is that every item you see on my shelf was purchased through eBay — save for 3 trees which I purchased from my local Hobby shop. The key ingredients for your diorama shelf are the asphalt and grass matting which form the base of the entire diorama. This base will also be our template on which we map out roads, trees, shrubbery, carparking areas and buildings, service stations and other fixed objects. The grass is the same brand and is available in a range of shades. I opted for a lighter one so as to help the customs stand out better. I recommend you do the same. The answer lies in train scenery designed for HO Scale model train enthusiasts — because what you will find is that a lot of the scenery produced for them is actually in scale yeah I dunno either? Shrubbery and trees are easy to obtain regardless of scale and what I recommend is buying through eBay where you can get a pack of 50 ready made trees in varying sizes — in which at least 20 can be utilised for your diorama. Other items like park benches and people are also available in scale but out of the people I have purchased I paid like 5 bucks so whatever only about 20 are tall enough — and even they are probably on the smallish side.
