Remember Me?
Remember Me? Welcome to the ultimate BMW X3 community. I'm trying to find information on flushing power steering fluid on my X3 and can't find any details on how much fluid is needed. Is 2 liters enough CHR 11S to do "turkey baster" method? I know it's relatively cheap to buy another liter and return it if not used, but I'm now curious how much I actually need to replace before measuring during the procedure. Appreciate 0. If you do come across info on flushing F25 power steering fluid, ignore it since it doesn't use fluid, it's electric.

Remember Me? My way: -I chose to do this with the engine off because I don't want a messy garage floor -The drain bolt is on the rack not the PS pump. I believe I found the true drain bolt on the rack vs on the pump, see pics below. The one on the top, 19mm, black with the thicker head 4. Turn the steering wheel lock to lock, repeatedly untill all the fluid drains out. Lower the car after you put everything back. Turn on the car for 3 seconds and turn off, check the level and repeat till the level is good. Appreciate 1. Nice write up and excellent pictures. Do you think it is a good idea to bleed by turning the car on with the cap open? That is, top it off once done bleeding and have someone turn the car on and turn the wheel while you fill it up as it eats up more fluid. It should also bubble out air? I don't have a bentley manual but wondering what it recommends. I did this in my e36 but now am thinking about changing my i's fluid. It makes a light noise when I turn my wheel at morning start.
The time now is PM. No reservoir.
Remember Me? The dealership stated that I should replace my power steering fluid. I don't have any lights indicating that I need to fix it. Honestly I don't feel anything wrong because of it either. Now, the local mechanic told me for my car 08 e90, the power steering fluid replacement isn't necessary; in fact, He told me it's written in the owner's manual. What do you guys think?

It has all the qualities you expect from a luxury compact crossover from BMW, but it also has a few common issues. Oil leaks are a major problem for any vehicle. The BMW X3 used vehicles were reported to have oil leakage by the drivers. That is because the plastic valve cover wears out more easily than other materials. Another reason for this issue can be deteriorating valve cover gaskets.

I did not remove the engine cover or the air filter housing but I did look beneath the covers near the firewall. I just made it gudd'en tight. Get the bolt mostly out, the have the tubing ready to shove over the opening and hold while doing all the rest of the wheel turning etc No problem if I disconnect the battery I mean there will be no problem on the dashboard or other things to re configure? Check your brake fluid. Adjust as needed.
These systems use an electric motor instead of a hydraulic system and therefore do not have any power steering fluid to leak. Electric power steering typically require less maintenance and are more fuel efficient. Hans Angermeier has produced over , videos showing drivers how to fix things on their cars.
Appreciate 0. I went to a hardware store and got a ' length of something like 1. Best to do when the fluid is warm, go for the 10 min drive before. Find More Posts by sammk.
