Started by Greg Mahan , February 18, I'm new here and I have a D dime that looks like it might be a good error coin. The collar is very high and the clad lines are perfect around the circumference. I found the coin in change one day. I have never seen anything like it. I do have a basic knowledge of imperfections and coin grades.

Such accidents rarely happen at the Mint, so this tells you that a missing clad layer dime is extremely valuable and highly sought after.

A clipped error happens when Mint workers place planchets incorrectly into the striking hub. The result was a dime with a copper obverse and a nickel reverse or vice-versa. Regardless, it was not done this way at the mint. I would love to know that it's a rare find, but there aren't many people to ask where I live. Just Bob Posted February 18, Thanks again guys.
