Perhaps my focus on the story mitigated the excitement of seeing how the computer was going to screw me over; perhaps the alignment agenda, while useful for a moralistic fantasy setting, undercut the chaotic spontaneity that usually makes 4X games so delicious. Maybe it would simply be more unpredictable in a multiplayer setting, because no one will sabotage you in 4X like a friend.

In most 4X games, the achievements of your past civilizations only live on in animated discussions with friends over drinks later. Your Gandhi from a previous Civilization 6 campaign isn't going to come through a portal to save the day in a later one, with the scars of a nuclear war against Alexander the Great still marking his slender frame. It's been long since I last played it, but since its on sale at Steam, this is a must buy for anyone who enjoys turn based strategy games. The game offers some ways to simplify things for those who are more casual but definitely is something that someone could spend hours, days, and weeks digging into and still not be able to see everything the game has in its depths. The way defense and attack works in this game is very weird, and so it makes very little sense. This is the third DLC, and while these DLCs all add the same type of items, such as new Tomes, cultures, races, and more, Triumph Studios has done a great job of making each one feel unique.
