The event, which pairs Rawhide Rodeo and the Brooke-Alvinston Agricultural Society had record breaking crowds over the weekend. This year they hosted more than children during their rodeo field trip on Friday afternoon. This year there were contestants signed up! Winners included in the kids competition ages 7 — 12, Vanessa Alexander of Sarnia. In the 13 to 18 category, Braydon Barnes of London.

Organizers have added a third day to the June 14 to 16 weekend event that attracted large crowds last year to watch local international champions Tyler Foster and Rod Weese compete alongside others at the fairgrounds in Alvinston. Between 1, and 1, spectators attended each day last year, said Dan Cumming, who is the rodeo committee chairperson for the Brooke-Alvinston Agriculture Society. Foster and Weese are both from Lambton County and have won international championships. The rodeo weekend is a fundraiser for the agricultural society and helps support its annual fall fair in Alvinston. Pupils from the Alvinston-area elementary school attended the grounds last year for All About Horses, an educational program that included the rodeo clown. The decision was made to open it up to more schools and six are scheduled to send approximately pupils on the Friday morning of rodeo weekend. That evening, gates will open to the public at 5 p. Saturday of rodeo weekend will follow the same schedule, with Scott Manery and the Barn Burners performing at the barn dance. Rodeo events include bronc riding, steer wrestling, roping, barrel racing, pole bending, bull riding and others. There will be vendors at the site during the weekend, along with pony rides by the Optimists, and a bouncy castle and other family activities by the Lambton and Middlesex Dairy Producers.
