It was with me on the Sierra High Route and has accompanied me on dozens of shorter trips and countless nights car camping or hanging around frontcountry camps. It remains in my current puffy rotation and is among my favorites. For summer and shoulder season backpacking, the Cerium LT should be more than adequate for most people in most conditions. The fill weight of the jacket is 3. The Cerium LT has four zippers — one down the full length of the front and one on each of the three pockets two hand warmer and one interior chest.

Arc'teryx - Cerium Hoody - Down jacket. The Cerium Hoody down jacket from Arc'teryx is filled with particularly high-quality down for excellent warmth at a low weight. It uses RDS certified white goose down from Europe, which insulates in horizontal chambers under a lightweight and durable 15D Arato outer fabric. At cuin fillpower, the filling offers as much warmth as particularly high-quality down sleeping bags. The Cerium Hoody down jacket weighs only g, including warm down insulation in the collar and hood. This also protects the neck and head from wind and cold. Arc'teryx uses so-called Down Composite Mapping for the down jacket and supplements the down insulation with synthetic insulation fibres. Combined with a water-repellent DWR treatment, this improves use in wet conditions and provides targeted heat distribution. The down jacket has two high-set front pockets and an extra inside pocket. Elastic cuffs and a practical stuff sack for space-saving transport in touring luggage are also part of the Cerium Hoody jacket. Email us! When it came to the performance of the DWR treatment on its face fabric, the Cerium LT was merely average, arcteryx cerium down jacket, leading to some minor absorption of water into the nylon, especially around the shoulders and front zipper. Amazing down jacket. My rating: 4.
We outdoor adventurers grow very attached to our puffy jackets, and with good reason! When temps drop a quality down jacket keeps us cozy, happy, and safe. My adventure style tends toward fast-and-light, but I run cold and refuse to compromise on warmth. All these trips had stringent space and weight constraints plus occasional sub-freezing nights and mornings, exactly the kind of conundrum the Cerium is designed to solve. Will it be warm enough?

Below I break down my thoughts on the Cerium Hoody. To see how it stacks up to the competition, see our articles on the best down jackets and best midlayers. I recently took the Cerium Hoody to Patagonia, where it shined as my go-to insulator in unseasonably cool and wet conditions. Our final overnight of the trip was particularly cold and damp, and the Cerium did a great job of keeping me comfortable at camp after getting chilled to the bone on the hike in.

The Arc'teryx Cerium LT Hoody is a top scorer in our review based mainly upon its performance in two of the most critically important categories for a lightweight down jacket — warmth and weight. Its fill power down gives it super high loft and heat retention, while also weighing less than the competitors who used lower fill-power down. Arc'teryx pairs its warm and light down with Arato 10 denier super light nylon shell fabric, ensuring that this jacket uses only the lightest materials available. However, while its high quality led to maximum performance, it doesn't come without a price. The Cerium LT stuffs a ton of high-loft down into its hood and sewn-through compartments on the back of the neck. It also uses Arc'teryx's Down Composite Mapping to include panels of Coreloft synthetic insulation in places where there is a high threat of moisture build-up, and in this case, that meant on top of the shoulders. Despite being noticeably thinner than the down-filled baffles surrounding it, we found that there was no drop-off in these panel's heat-trapping capabilities, making it one of the warmer jackets in our test. The Cerium LT Hoody weighed 12 ounces on our independent scale, including its stuff sack that comes in the internal zippered chest pocket.

While this stuff sack has a clip-in loop and weighs next to nothing, it isn't super easy to get the jacket fully stuffed within. Finally, we loved how the fit was adaptable to wear this jacket either as the outer most layer, or under a shell, and was simultaneously loose and mobile, while not ever getting in our way while recreating.
