Achatinas are a valuable creature to have at your disposal in Ark: Survival Ascended but finding and taming them can be difficult. The giant snails can provide a steady supply of Achatina Paste, which can be used in crafting instead of Cementing Paste —providing a steady supply of the material and saving you from having to farm via other methods. However, Achatinas are fussy eaters and hang out in dangerous areas of the map, so you must come prepared. Achatinas can be found mostly in the central region of The Island in Ark: Survival Ascended, with the most common area for spawns being in the Swamps that surround the Redwood Forest. Achatinas are a difficult tame to complete in Ark: Survival Ascended due to the requirements and their location, which are full of dangerous creatures.

The Achatina is pretty much the same as certain snails today, and enjoys inching around in the watery swamp regions on The Island. This shelled, slow-moving gastropod isn't just a good source of Chitin, though. Tamed Achatina make adorable pets, and naturally produce some pretty important materials for free, which can help you progress in the early stages of the game or come in handy in the end game. Knocking them out may be easy, but these not-so-little snails are particular about their food. Achatina are mostly found in the center areas of The Island , especially in the swamps surrounding the Redwood Forest , in the Redwood Forest itself, and the smaller swamp in the center right portion of the map. Still, it shares some fairly unique defensive mechanics with another creature, the Doedicurus , and Achatina only eat a specific food for taming and, in general, the Sweet Vegetable Cake. Upon losing two-thirds of its HP , an Achatina will retreat into its shell , and not only will it take 90 percent reduced damage from wild and tamed creatures , but it also becomes immune to damage from humans. Achatina also takes reduced damage when they're struck on their backside or shell normally.

Found mostly in marshes and jungles, Achatina limusegnis is a very slow, very non-threatening land mollusk. It might be the simplest creature on the Island to hunt, and while it only provides a small amount of meat and chitin, an easy meal is always of value on the Island. Unlike nearly every other creature on the Island, Achatina does not defecate normally. Instead, it secretes a thick, sticky substance. Achatina leaves trails of this slime, but the trails are so thin that they crumble to dust quickly. There is a very disgusting, but useful fact about Achatina that causes tribes to seek to tame them: its secretions are chemically similar to the "Cementing Paste" and "Organic Polymer" used by many tribes for building materials.
