The question was easy to ask. The answer is considerably more complicated. With the Timbersled paradigm there is the necessity to purchase a full-on dirt bike to install your Timber Sled kit on before you go anywhere. It would make sense a fully built snow bike should be cheaper to buy than a separate dirt bike and a kit — right? This info is old news and we wonder if the Sherko was just too expensive to make it to the market as an integrated snow bike. Back to Craig Kennedy. From what we understand Cat did develop a left side brake lever that functioned as a clutch for the first part of the lever travel and a brake when squeezed further. The Arctic Cat SVX snow bike was introduced to the general public in the spring of to much fanfare and excitement from snowmobile media folks. We wrote a preview article on the SVX here. What set the Arctic Cat SVX apart from anything else in the industry was that it was a complete unit, rather than a track and ski that you add to an off-road motorcycle, like offerings from Polaris-owned Timbersled. But for those of you who have been pining for a complete snow bike, it looks like the Arctic Cat SVX might might be dead and buried just yet. We found an Arctic Cat patent application for a snow bike that was recently published, which may mean the SVX is soon to return. You can read the patent application here. Looking at the drawings, the vehicle in the patent application looks like it may be a bit longer than the original SVX with a slightly longer track. However, these are just illustrations and things will likely change if and when this snow bike reaches production. We will include a selection of illustrations from the patent document below for reference.
