Auslan fingerspelling games
Auslan has an alphabet which we call fingerspelling. Fingerspelling is an integrated feature of Auslan. Often, fingerspelling will be used for nouns such as names of places or people. Fingerspelling is also often used for loanwords, where there is no allocated sign for a specific word. Titles of books, movies or tv series are finger spelt if printed in English. You will learn to recognise patterns in the way that words appear on the hand. Just like with reading English you do not focus on each letter but theshape and pattern that the word creates. Avoid looking at the hands to read the fingerspelling. Eyes should be on the face of fingerspeller. As the fingerspelling decreases in speed the patterns become less clear.
