Can anybody please tell me what the name of the jam factory was and what street it was in. My aunt worked there for many years and I am trying to find out a bit more about it. The factory closed c and the site went for development and is now Abbey Court. A wrought iron sign Newbery Preserves was erected above the entrance to Abbey Court in memory of the factory. I hope this is useful. He had a large family. My Grandmother, Rosie, was his eldest daughter.

I remeber it well, having spent a good few childhood days pinching jars of freshly made stawberry jam! The building was camouflaged and there was a fantastic clock-tower which got knocked down. The smell from the place on hot summer days was fantastic. If the wind was right you could smell the jam up on Marsh Lane in Bootle! If anyone has any photo's of the clock-tower I'd be gratefull for a copy Only for private nostalgic use that is!.. I've only been able to find one black and white image which isn't too clear so far!
