Mark King born 28 March is an English professional snooker player. Having turned professional in , King was ranked within the world's top 32 players between and , and won his first ranking event title in , defeating Barry Hawkins 9—8 in the final of the Northern Ireland Open. He has also appeared in two other ranking tournament finals: the Welsh Open , where he lost 2—9 to Stephen Hendry ; [2] and the Irish Masters , [3] where Peter Ebdon defeated him 10—7. King has reached the last 16 of the World Championship seven times, in , , , , , and , but has never progressed beyond this stage. King turned professional in and advanced steadily through the rankings, reaching the top 48 by His Welsh Open final run lead to a top 32 place in the end of season rankings, and he continued to progress by reaching the top 16 a year later. He made his debut at the World Snooker Championship in , losing to Darren Morgan in the first round.

Soon beating all comers, having triumphed in the junior national billiards championship six years in a row, in he became national under champion in both disciplines.

A four-time ranking event winner, Brecel is the reigning World Snooker Champion , having won the event by defeating four-time champion Mark Selby 18—15 in the final. Brecel trailed Si Jiahui 5—14 in the semi-final, but eventually won 17— This comeback from nine frames behind is the biggest deficit ever overturned in the history of the World Championship at the Crucible Theatre. He became the first player from mainland Europe to win a ranking event when he won the China Championship , and then went on to win other ranking events: the Scottish Open and Championship League. He is the youngest player to compete in the World Snooker Championship, making his debut in , aged 17 years and 45 days, and the first player from mainland Europe to have won the event. Brecel won the European Under title at the age of 14, and turned professional in He reached the top 16 in the world rankings in , and reached his first Triple Crown final at the UK Championship , but lost 5—10 to Zhao Xintong. In April , he became the youngest European Under champion at 14 years of age, in a 6—5 victory against Michael Wasley in Saint Petersburg. He lost 4—5 to world champion Graeme Dott in the quarter-finals.
