To get further afield, the buses are great and really cheap. Prepare for cakes. Bread and meat everywhere seems to be a Portuguese thing. Caminho da Pedra, Curral das Freiras. You can get a rechargeable bus card from a GIRO machine; the easiest one to find is just by the cable car station. Absolutely love Madeira. You know the kind of thing. Whichever comes first.
