Ottawa, Ontario — November 7, — Ringette Canada today announced the induction of four new members into its Hall of Fame. The Ringette Canada Hall of Fame recognizes outstanding contributions to the development of the sport of ringette and the outstanding achievements of ringette athletes, coaches, officials and administrators across Canada. Without their efforts, our sport would not be what it is today and I congratulate each of them on their induction into our Hall of Fame. Dwayne Andreen started coaching ringette in when his daughter Kim began playing. He continued to be involved with the sport for 30 years as a coach, volunteer, organizer, board member locally, provincially and nationally , supporter and advocate. Dwayne pushed his players to be the best they could be by instilling confidence and belief, and creating a positive learning environment. He also treated his players equally, regardless of individual talents and roles. Dwayne was instrumental in the creation of the Saskatoon Wild in the National Ringette League and coached the team for seven seasons. Dwayne is a true ambassador for ringette and his contributions as a visionary and leader have helped grow ringette in both Saskatchewan and across Canada. Dwayne will be receiving his induction award on November 11 th at the Bernadette Price Memorial Tournament being held in Saskatoon. Extreme lost one game during the round robin to the Buffalo Plains Riot, who they faced again in the gold medal game.

All three teams faced stiff competition in round robin play with only CORE earning a spot in the semi-finals on Sunday. In the morning game CORE met a determined team from St Albert who battled back from a two goal deficit in the fourth quarter to take the game into overtime. Overtime was a tight checking affair with chances at both ends of the ice. The bronze medal game was a classic barn burner with Zone 2 jumping out to a two goal lead midway through the third quarter only to have CORE battle back with four unanswered goals, taking a two goal lead late into the fourth quarter. Zone 2 made it interesting cutting the deficit to one with just over a minute left to play but CORE halted the comeback to take home the Bronze. Congratulations to all and best of luck at Nationals. CORE fought hard through intense pool play and qualified for the gold medal match. Core pulled out all the stops in the final game and went on to win gold - nice job representing Alberta!
