Locally, Big Brothers Big Sisters serves children ages through six distinct mentoring programs. You and your Little can share the kinds of activities you already like to do. Play sports. Go on a hike. Read books. Or just give some encouragement and inspiration. Site-Based mentoring: Bigs spend 1 hour each week with their Little at a designated site. All sessions are supervised and activities are provided. Community-based mentoring: Bigs and Littles get together times a month for hours. Looking to get involved? Big Brothers Big Sisters supports the children who need us most, including those living in single parent homes, growing up in poverty and coping with parental incarceration. Igniting potential begins with finding a great match between a Big and a Little. We pair children, ages 7 through 18, with role models in one-to-one relationships. Community Mentoring: Our traditional program of one-to-one mentoring takes place in the neighborhoods and communities that the volunteer and child live in. Bigs and Littles get together at least 2 times a month for hours each time. Children from ages can enroll at no cost. Operation Bigs Community Mentoring : This specialized program is for children with an active-duty military, veteran, or fallen parent, who could benefit from an added layer of support, during deployment, transition or loss. Operation Bigs: Bigs meet one hour each week with their Little during the school year, after school hours. Operation Bigs serves children who have an active duty military parent, often those with a deployable parent and committed to providing the critical support needed to children who have sacrificed so much.
