There is a litany of minor characters throughout Bleach that manage to catch one's eye and play important roles. Don Kanonji, for example, is a great goofball character, that in doses, brings the perfect amount of levity. Tatsuki also helps bring progression out of Or ihime , just as Ikumi does for Ichigo. She forces him to trust others and realize he can't do everything by himself, something he'd struggled with throughout the wh ole series. It makes her a character worthy of knowing, despite only really having a role during the fullbring arc. Ikumi tends to be a little aggressive when one first meets her, being unafraid to use force to get them to do things. At a glance, it'd be easy to think she was just the stereotypical hot- headed character, but there's more to her than that. She's a very motherly character , being sickly sweet to her child, despite how he acts around her. It goes beyond just him. She's the same way to Ichigo, being protective of him as an older sister would. Ikumi is only ever seen in two different types of clothing, one she wears in the shop and the other at home, both bringing out completely different sides of her. At the shop, she's never seen without her goggles, brown cap, and gloves. Once she's around her son, she casts all of that aside in favor of an apron. It's not all she changes either.

When Ichigo remarks that he has no interest in an old lady anyway, bleach ikumi, she smacks him on the head with a book and starts to bleach ikumi off the tape she tied him up with. She wears a brown cap with goggles and work gloves.

There are over a hundred relevant characters in Bleach , which is actually quite normal for a series of its epic scope — however, this means that a large section of them are relegated to minor roles and not-as-important personal arcs. An unfair fate, indeed, given that quite a few side-characters have never received the attention they sorely deserve.
