If you have have had your hair colored blonde in other words, significantly lighter than your natural base it is inevitable that when your roots grow out they can be a little unsightly. Especially if you are attached to that pristine blonde look from roots to tips and it's been a while since your last coloring. Luckily, by applying a little color knowledge it is really not too difficult to take those roots to blonde. Don't forget that your roots, however black, are uncolored hair - that part of your hair has never been dyed before. You can touch up your roots as soon as they are noticeable. But you do need some hair to work with. We generally would recommend that you wait anywhere between 4 to 8 weeks from your previous color application. This will give you enough time to have a couple of inches of roots at least. Ugly Duckling has a wide range of toners and yes, some of them do have lifting properties which most toners in the market do not have. But unless your regrowth or natural hair is within one or two levels of the rest of the hair, you can't just apply toner. For example, by lifting the roots but not by enough you could end up with orange roots and blonde lengths.
