The biggest things to take advantage of in the game are bleed and frost, and posture damage. Going all in on 1 or all of those at the same time along with knowledge on how to get the most out of the build during boss fights and just about anything can slap around enemies and bosses. However some weapons are just plain better than others so the better ones will have a slight edge always.
