The Akatsuki was a powerful organization in the Naruto series that was led by different shinobi at different points in time. Throughout their existence, the Akatsuki was home to some of the strongest shinobi to ever live, boruto akatsuki, such as Itachi and Obito, among many others. Although war is no longer a worry, that certainly doesn't mean that there are no dangers in the world of Boruto at all. A series without stakes and tension is bound to fail, after all. Instead of having other villages and countries as enemies, Boruto sees the likes of the Otsutsuki clan be made into enemies as they're celestial beings described to be parasites who feed on planets' life force. At the same time, the Otsutsuki are deeply connected to a major criminal organization in the world of Boruto who are just starting to surface — the Kara. It goes without saying that the Kara share quite a few similarities to Naruto's criminal organization called the Akatsuki and fans inevitably end up comparing them to each other.

Over the course of several decades, Akatsuki took different forms and was led by different individuals. Though each iteration is viewed as either subversives or criminals, all seek to make the world a better place through their own means. Each Akatsuki tended to have multiple lairs across the world, inaccessible either due to their remoteness or the various security measures that protected them. The initial concept of Akatsuki was devised by Black Zetsu as part of its plan to revive its mother, though it pretended the idea came from Madara Uchiha, whom Black Zetsu tricked into thinking that it was a manifestation of his will. As citizens of Amegakure who had been orphaned by the Second Shinobi World War, the three created Akatsuki as a way to bring peace to their home country, which too often got caught in the crossfire of the Five Great Shinobi Countries' many conflicts. In time, the three were approached by Tobi, who introduced himself as Madara Uchiha. Tobi claimed Nagato was the reincarnation of the Sage of Six Paths and offered to teach him to control the power of his Rinnegan, though Yahiko distrusted him and prompted Nagato to turn down his offer. Nevertheless, Tobi would later claim that it was he who encouraged Yahiko to form Akatsuki, unbeknownst to Konan. Akatsuki's desire for an end to war attracted many fellow Ame ninja to their cause and, in time, word of their exploits began to travel beyond Amegakure's borders. Akatsuki's early fame was owed largely to Yahiko's leadership and his natural charisma, which kept the group united and motivated them to persevere despite the difficulties of their goal. Yahiko, however, viewed himself as merely a facilitator for Nagato, who would ultimately be the actual source of world peace because of his Rinnegan.

As of now, their goals are not known, but being a criminal group, they're likely to have ill intentions for the peace that Naruto Uzumaki fought for in the Ninja War. Being a villainous organization, Kara draws lots of comparisons to the fan-favorite Akatsuki from Naruto. In fact, fans have already started drawing comparisons between the two.
