This is my very first shot at writing this sort of thing online, so apologies if it starts off as crap.

Joining forces in the continuing war, Barnes and Rogers formed the Howling Commandos to battle the Red Skull's forces. Unbeknownst to his team, Barnes had actually survived the attack on the train, albeit with the loss of his left arm. Over the next several decades, he would eliminate anyone who posed a threat to HYDRA, including his former ally, Howard Stark as well as his wife Maria. Between his missions, Barnes would be put into a cryogenic stasis to preserve his longevity. However, Barnes was then accused of causing a terrorist bombing, which claimed the life of T'Chaka, the King of Wakanda, among others. As it was revealed that Helmut Zemo had organized the Civil War, he revealed that Barnes had murdered Stark's parents years ago. Having survived the latter's revenge, Barnes was then taken into Wakanda where he was allowed by T'Challa to be frozen until his mind could be cured of all HYDRA's mental programming, Barnes gradually recovered with help from T'Challa's sister Shuri and was nicknamed by certain children as White Wolf.

We are very nearly nearing the 80th anniversary of the comic book debut of Captain America's beloved sidekick, Bucky Barnes. The character started off as a character who, despite having an endearing presence and a scrappy wit, wasn't all that special in the grand scheme of things. Sure, he was a fine character, but there wasn't too much about Bucky that separated him from or made him stand out next to other boy partners of his era, like Robin for example. That would change in the coming years and in due time, Bucky would evolve into quite the character of his time. Following the character's unceremonious exit and death from the original run of Captain America comic books, Bucky would make his shocking return to Marvel in the mid-'00s, but not as a hero. He would return as a brainwashed adversary to Captain America. Eventually, Bucky would not only come back to his senses, but he would don the Captain America mantle for himself. This character has a long and storied history that is slowly transitioning into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. So much has happened to this character in the past, that many casual fans may not be aware of his entire history yet.

Originally introduced as a sidekick to Captain America , the character was created by Joe Simon and Jack Kirby and first appeared in Captain America Comics 1 cover-dated March which was published by Marvel's predecessor, Timely Comics. Barnes' original costume or one based on it and the Bucky nickname has been used by other heroes in the Marvel Universe over the years. The character's memories and personality are later restored, leading him to become a dark hero in search of redemption. He temporarily assumes the role of Captain America when Steve Rogers was presumed to be dead. During the crossover Fear Itself , Barnes is injected with the Infinity Formula, which increases his natural vitality and physical traits in a way that is similar to but less powerful than the super-soldier serum used on Captain America.
