BYU is a private university, and university budget and compensation information is private and confidential. Employees are entitled to keep their own compensation confidential from others but may disclose their own compensation. Access to budget or compensation information held by the university must be restricted to authorized university employees only, and authorized employees may only use the information for authorized purposes. An employee who fails to keep budget information confidential may be the subject of university disciplinary action. The university will not discharge or in any other manner discriminate against employees or applicants because they have inquired about, discussed, or disclosed their own pay or the pay of another employee or applicant.
