At first glance, this campsite, owned and operated by the Camping and Caravanning Club, may not seem to be an obvious Hipcamp site. Too normal by far: an organised reception building; carefully manicured acres of immaculate grounds; generous metrically measured-out pitches; and superb all-encompassing but predictable facilities. Have we sold it to you yet? No, thought not. This pretty site is a busy family camping destinattion in the school holidays at least and has a playground for the kids, equipped with all the usual swings and stuff. Oh, and with pleasant efficient staff running things there will be no rowdy, sleepless nights under nylon here. What more can you ask?

Lined by trees and flanked by rolling countryside, this is the place to sit back and enjoy the views - some pitches enjoy fabulous views over the bay. Don't pay attention to the "Slapton 5 miles" sign on the A The campsite is level and well set out with some hardstanding and plenty of grass pitches. Off-site there are plenty of coastal walks to enjoy including to Beesands and Hallsands. The shingle beach and clean, calm sea are ideal for families dogs are welcome too and water sport enthusiasts can enjoy surfing, windsurfing and canoeing. There are many walks and trails around the reserve which is teeming with birds and wildlife. Backed by evergreens and scented pines, this stretch of golden sands has a real Mediterranean feel. A bus stop a quarter of a mile from the campsite is on routes to Plymouth, Kingsbridge and Dartmouth.

Just outside the beautiful village of Slapton on the south coast of Devon, Pittaford Farm is the perfect place for a peaceful retreat. With just 15 well spaced out pitches set on the side of a valley, the large meadow field has plenty of space. Amazing facilities, campfires and a peaceful setting make this a top spot for a civilised camping! Just a few minutes drive from the southwest coast path with stunning coastline and beaches and the picturesque village of Slapton, its the perfect base to explore this beautiful part of Devon. Walkers Heaven — Walk straight from the farm to Slapton Ley Nature reserve, taking in countryside views.

This site is on a well kept meadow overlooking the bay — the sea views are panoramic from some areas of the site, with shelter provided by some large bushes and the surrounding hedge. There are grass pitches, some with a slight slope, 52 have 16A Europlugs, while 10 are on hardstandings. Motorhomes and tents are accepted, plus a maximum of 8 caravan pitches which are reserved for Club members. Safari tents available to hire. Non-members are welcome and may join on site. Please speak to site staff for details and to check pitch availability before arrival. This area was used for rehearsals for the WW2 Normandy landings, when the whole population was evacuated — there are memorials, including a tank in the village of Torcross.
