After sailing around the island a second, very different, experience to the initial kayaking one we headed off in search of a Taula. A Taula is actually a monument kinda like Stonehenge in England , which is made up of several stone structures and dates back over 3, years! After descending some steps and then making your way through internal cave paths likes with opening — kinda like windows , you end up at the bar area where you get amazing views, a promise of spectacular sunsets and a pretty fantastic selection of drinks. I went for a caipirinha I was going through a phase with them at that time and soaked up as much as I possibly could of the view before eventually having to leave for the airport. So, we thought why not check it out? Now, this is a cave bar, so they only serve drinks! I recommend going before dinner or even have a little snack before you get there. Since we went on October 1st, their hours had changed a bit. Check their hours here before you go, just to be sure. A lot of places in Menorca will open for lunch, but then close for a few hours before dinner. The entry fee was 12 euros per person, but this includes a beverage! You can pay extra for a more special drink if you would like. They had a huge parking lot and there was no fee for parking! Some people were dressed up, some were more casual! The cave can be visited during the day as well as in the evening. The cave recieves the name of Xoroi due to a turkish pirate who lived sheltered in the cave during years and who survived stealing. The legend tells that when they discovered Xoroi in the cave, he jumped to the sea and nobody ever saw him again. You can arrive by car and park without problems in the parking or in the surrounding streets of the local see map. During the day you can enjoy the beauty of this incredible place and the views that offers its priviledged situation at the top of the cliffs, right above the sea. The inside of the cave has many spaces connected by corridors.

When I set sail for Menorca via Easyjet , the images were rushing through my mind of a hidden cave that only backpackers could get to, a party destination that was well known among the local hippie community and the island hoppers of the area. Oh, so secretive and oh so exciting. Or so I thought…. In my head, I was going to have to hike for miles and miles to see if this place really existed. Oh, how wrong, silly Lauren.

Definitely one of the hidden gems in Menorca. Some of the best views out to the Mediterranean sea with Mallorca in the distance. There are plenty of events throughout the year and summer to keep you entertained. Particularly if you want to relax with views of the sunset. Although a club, children are welcomed during the Cova day sessions. But, not advised for the afternoon and sunset, or night sessions. Ultimately it is a club. You will need to head to Cala en Porter and towards the coast. However, from Mahon you can take the Me road which leave Mahon from the south west. Take this route to the end and you will reach Cala en Porter.
