Below you will find a map for the locations of all known caves so far. Thank you Venexis for your map and guide on Steam Community page for this game. Each of the land based caves is home to a special artifact that is only found in that cave. These artifacts are needed to summon the endgame bosses at the obelisks. The artifacts are contained within floating upside-down pyramid-shaped boxes with a white glow. Note, you may only carry one of each type of artifact at any given time. Each cave also has certain conditions like really hot or really cold along with jumps that must be made and small spaces.

There are three bosses to tackle, with at least three Artifacts needed for each, and getting the loot is not an easy task with a plethora of enemies and environmental threats to tackle. The caves in ARK: Survival Ascended act as a series of small trials that survivors must fight through to retrieve valuable loot and unique artifacts. Often overrun with strong and dangerous creatures, most commonly Onycs and Araneos, the caves in ARK: Survival Ascended require thoughtful preparation before entering. Onyc can be particularly pesky to deal with, as they have a chance of infecting the player with deadly Mega Rabies, which can only be cured by consuming a Lesser Antidote. Restricted by size, certain dinosaurs cannot enter caves unless bred into them past the natural blockade. Furthermore, due to the layout of caves, some mounts perform better than others. Still, taking a high-level dino into the cave is often the best way of clearing out the massive groups of creatures lurking within. On top of this, players may have extreme temperatures and environmental obstacles to overcome, making some caves more difficult than others.

Expect low temperatures and dangerous jumps in this cave. After a short swim through water the rest of this cave is a massive hole with ledges leading down.

Wearing SCUBA gear is necessary to traverse the cave as it allows the player to breathe underwater, and have better vision. There are exceptions to this limitation however. Alternatively, if the player is wearing high-tier armor, a Pump-Action Shotgun should easily shred through the cave creatures. There is a lot of water in this cave as well with many passageways under the waves. Note that Achatina spawn as high-levelled varients, similar to the creatures found within The Island's Swamp and Snow caves. You will easily see this as it looks like a bridge with a gap. Cavern: A cave, or a chamber in a cave, typically a large one. This cave houses the Artifact of the Clever. Should you chose to swim you should either have Lazarus Chowders or buffed up Oxygen and Stamina stats. If you survive the dangers of the caves, however, they each contain a variety of resources to obtain. The entrances to the resource caves also appears to be a spawn location for pairs of Plesiosaurs , who tend to linger in the area, as well as a singular Mosasaurus , which in turn tend to linger near to the Plesiosaurs. To find the artifact here simply take the left route all the way though. Massive Broodmother. Some are easy to explore, others extremely difficult. Lava Oasis. Frozen Dungeon. A high-level Basilo with a good health stat and decent melee can easily deal with a group of Cnidaria. Despite having a large cave opening, dinosaurs classified as flying cannot be mounted within the cave. Narrow spaces make this place hard for larger groups to fight without hitting each other.
