Changewing
The Changewing is a mystery class dragon that appears in three episodes of Riders of Berk. Changewings seem to be social creatures as shown in Gem of a Different color when a bunch of mother changewings help each other get their eggs. Two of their unique traits are acid breath, and color changing their ability to change color make their skin softer that is why it protects itself by color changing. They hunt in packs like wolves and lead 1 prey out of the group and they surround it. Its weakness is that you must lead it into an area where it cannot camouflage itself. It can also hypnotize. The Changewing's most noticeable attribute is the ability to change the color and texture of its scales to match that of their surroundings. They usually blend in with their surroundings while approaching their prey, then transform back into their default colors. The only body part that Changewings can't change is their eyes, which they use to hypnotize victims before an attack. The Changewing's camouflage can also be rendered defunct if they are exposed to Hideous Zippleback gas. Unlike most other dragons, the Changewing can launch concentrated streams of acid at victims. Dragons fresh out of the shell are able to use this ability. The acid is green in color and is extremely corrosive. This acid can burn through most, if not all, materials in seconds. This was also demonstrated in the Dragons: Race to the Edge episode " Night of the Hunters, Part 1 " when Snotlout's helmet got hot Changewing acid on it but did not burn through.
Also, Changewings are very curious creatures, and as Hiccup describes, "whatever they see, they want to copy". So, changewing skin must not be insulating -- fitting it's armor stat of one, changewing. In " Free Scauldy ", while searching for the Screaming Deathchangewing, Hiccup, Changewing and the changewing discovered a Scauldron that had been washed ashore on Changewing Island and been trapped by one wing under a pile of rocks.
Early concept art depicted the Changewing as a much slender snake -like dragon, with smaller wings and no horns. This version has an extremely long tail and a single row of leaf-shaped spines going from its head to the the tip of its tail. It also has two twig-like appendages, on its head, as well as two vine-like appendages with the same leaf-like scales on them. Other depictions show a Changewing with much shorter wings and a triangular head, while others show as a completely flat dragon, like a Thunderdrum , with smaller yet longer wings. In Riders of Berk , Changewing eggs have a triangular shape, and they change colors while casting bright lights.
She later appears in the game, Dragons: Rise of Berk. However, Phantom was very violent and would shoot acid at everyone. She also repeatedly hypnotized Hiccup for a short while, which slowed down the training. Hiccup later came back with Toothless, thinking that the large group of people and dragons was why Phantom would not respond to being trained. Hiccup was just making progress, when a horn blared, heralding the approach of a massive Purple Death. After a long fought battle with the giant dragon, Hiccup came up with the idea to train Phantom to help in the battle. Hiccup succeeded in training Phantom, and later used her to hypnotize the Purple Death and put it back to sleep. She later had a slight argument with Toothless over who Hiccup liked more, but Hiccup told Toothless that he was always his number one, as well as giving Phantom her name. Like many other Changewings, Phantom has a solid red base with lighter spots on her body. She has faint pink shades on her wings and a pale yellow underbelly.

Again, I'm not a physicist, and I'm not a chemist, but my intuition tells me that rocks would absorb solar radiation turning it into heat better than air, so the rock in "A Gruff Separation" would probably be a little warmer than the surrounding air. When Changewings get threatened, injured, or scared, they can't control their color changes, making them easier to see. And they never finished the story, what the heck?! But the Light Fury can only make its scales mirror-like by super-heating its scales, hence why it triggers this ability by shooting an explosive fireball and then flying through it. Also like their ancestral dragon species, Hushbogles have trouble forming strong bond. Changewings have a prehensile tail for gripping as they are able to hold objects. This would mean that the acid melts mostly living things. Later, when the captain of the Dragon Hunters hides behind a rock, the same Changewing attacks him and presumably kills him.
