It is a bad connector with a truly limited lifespan which doesn't maintain a secure fitting unlike the mini stereo jack fitting which even if the iPhone drops out of a pocket will stay connected even with some force and has many times saved my iPhone with a dangle from a fall. Well, typically the culprit is just pocket lint clogging your charge port and you can easily fix this problem in just 3 easy steps. First, you will need something small and pointy, like a toothpick. If you have some canned air, that will come in handy too. Gently insert the toothpick all the way into the charge port and see if you can feel any debris. Be careful to not scratch the sides of the charge port too hard. Depending on your model of phone, there could be delicate pins on the side that you could damage. You should be able to feel the pocket lint and dirt as you scrape the bottom of the port. Gross right?

Unscientific measure; I used to be able to pick up the dropped phone by the cord alone without disconnect.

My iPhone has recently developed a problem where the charger, if bumped to the right, causes the charger to slip out and stop the charging process. I haven't found anyone else with the same problem so far, so what I would like to know is: Is there something I can do to fix this without sending it in to service? If I have to send it in to service, that's fine, I just wouldn't prefer to. As far as this being the charger's fault, I have tried it with other chargers and friend's chargers to no avail, I also have tried my charger in other iPhones and they don't slip out at all, What is going on?
