Cube root activity

At the beginning of the school year each year, cube root activity, I teach square roots and cube roots. This lays the groundwork for approximating irrationals numbers and lets us ease into the school year. I wish that I had time to do more of these square root and cube root activities with students, but the first few days of school are jammed cube root activity with getting to know my students and explaining procedures. So, I only get to do a few of them.

Cube root activity

Cube roots can be a tricky concept for students to grasp, but with some fun hands-on activities, it can become a lot easier to understand. Here are five activities to teach about cube roots that can be used in a classroom or at home. Building Cubes: Start by giving each student a set of small cubes such as linking cubes and show them how to build a larger cube with them. Then, explain how cube roots work by showing them how to use cube roots to find the side length of a cube. Have students practice finding the cube root of different numbers by building cubes of different sizes. Cubing Numbers: Give each student a calculator and a worksheet with different numbers on it.
