The extension is currently in beta, and there are some issues to work out, but it should be fully usable. Local thumbnail generation is done by taking a screenshot of an HTML video element using and drawing that to a canvas. When you leave YouTube nerdy english videos, the coverage is indeed not that good yet, but coverage is getting better and better in my experience By the way, you can use it for free by clicking the "I don't want to pay" button. A majority of people do this. Awesome extension, I've been using it for a while and it gives a better feel in YouTube.

DeArrow uses truly random timestamps generated by its own server. Really cool add-on but it consistently makes youtube load slower, and sometimes not at all. They should just call this app the Beast Face Scrub extension. This can be configured in the options to disable formatting, or show the original thumbnail by default.
