On his journey to become the number one hero, Izuku Midoriya, or Deku, has been through a number of trials and tribulations. Some of the situations he's found himself in are extreme for anyone, even a fictional teenager. But, using his wits, strength, and some luck, he manages to pull through in the end. Deku has gone out of his way many times, which shaped the story as well as his character. Deku is known for thinking his plans through and therefore making some good decisions.

Heroes by nature are self-sacrificial. It comes part and parcel with the title, especially in an anime like My Hero Academia. One born quirkless and the other gifted with an especially powerful quirk — one aims to win to save while the other wants to save to win. Suffocated by the slime monster that All Might accidentally let go of; Bakugou struggles under the gaze of helpless heroes and gossiping bystanders. As he slowly fades out of consciousness, there Midoriya stands and sees in his eyes a plea for help.

Some of their exercises are quite clever, like Bakugo submerging his hands in boiling water to expand his sweat glands, while others, like Kaminari electrocuting himself by running a current through a large capacity battery, are quite funny, thanks to the exaggerated animation that emphasizes its impact. All signs point to an increased role for the Class B students in the episodes to come, and seeing their homeroom teacher Sekijiro attempt build them up so they can rise above the shadow of Class A was heartwarming. Additionally, his explanation of how to strengthen one's Quirk, likening it to the process of damaging muscle fibers so they can repair and become stronger, was an excellent illustration that provides real-world example the viewer can relate to. As its title implies, "Kota" also spends a fair bit of time on Kota, and Deku's desire to reach him. Much like how Deku broke through to Todoroki during the sports festival, Deku sees a brokenness within Kota and wants to help him.

Despite the little interaction that is seen between them, it is evident that Kota felt a great affection towards his parents. All Might treats heroism more like a tedious job he has to do rather than a passion. Deku's Shoot Style is one major way that Deku has distinguished himself as a hero. Muscular takes Izuku's silence to mean he doesn't know and then he kicks Izuku back into the rock wall. Mandalay distracts Spinner with her Quirk and attacks, but Magne uses her Quirk to attract Mandalay to her. The villain removes his mask, and Kota recognizes him as the man who murdered both of his parents : Muscular. Muscular smacks Izuku away and brags about how his Quirk increases his speed and strength so much that his muscle fibers pop out of his skin. Paranormal Liberation Front Hawks vs. Deku decided to try and save his childhood friend from a villain, even without a Quirk. He also didn't tell anyone where he was going when he left the group, meaning he can't call for backup. But, using his wits, strength, and some luck, he manages to pull through in the end.
