Destro is one of the most cunning foes the Joe Team has ever faced. He is the power behind M. Military Armament Research Syndicate , one of the largest manufacturer of state-of-the-art weaponry. His business is fueled by inciting unstable countries to wage wars against each other and then getting them to purchase weapons from him. To him, war is simply man's expression of his most natural state. It is the perfect example of where the fittest survive and where many technological advances are made. His biggest client, thus far, is Cobra with whom he maintains an alliance of convenience. Despite being a manipulative person, Destro maintains a sense of honor and actually respects the Joe Team for their skills or expertise, if not their motivation. The silver mask Destro wears is his most distinctive feature. It is forged from Beryllium steel. For centuries, the Destro clan designed and sold weapons. In an incident dating back to the English Civil War, an ancestor of his was caught selling weapons to both sides.
When the Joe team secured a group of radio antennae to counteract the signal that affected the satellites, destro g.i. joe, they were attacked by Destro's new robotic Iron Grenadiers. The Commander is captured by Serpentor, now in charge of the Coil.
The man known today only as Destro was little more than a spoiled rich kid in his youth. In , young Destro accompanied his father on a business trip to Vietnam. The Vietnam War was at the height of its intensity and North Vietnamese forces were staging the infamous Tet Offensive. The young Destro's father was there to sell weapons to men posing as representatives of the South Vietnamese government. In reality the men were Vietcong agents. When the elder Destro and his son arrived at the meeting place in Saigon, they discovered it was swarming with American soldiers. A humanitarian, the Baron Eugen DeCobray, had also been meeting with the Vietcong agents and was killed for his medical supplies.
Cobra Commander may currently be on the hunt for Energon in his own series, but another G. Joe villain is waiting in the wings. Skybound Entertainment just revealed that Destro will be headlining his own miniseries this summer, adding to the Energon Universe shared continuity of Transformers and G. Joe as the line continues to grow. With the first issue due to be released on June 19, Destro will round out the four miniseries comprising the G. Joe corner of the Energon Universe , in addition to the newly announced Scarlett series.
