Dodongos cavern

The entrance to Dodongo's Cavern dodongos cavern currently blocked by a large boulder. After leaving Goron City, go to the right and you will find a bomb flower next to a Goron.

Make your way over to Kakariko Village and climb up to the top of the area. This will initiate a lengthy conversation in which he laughs at you, opens the gate, tells you to get the shield and comments that his kid desperately wants a mask from the Happy Mask Shop in Hyrule Town. The mask is part of a side quest that will be covered in a later chapter. It was originally 80 rupees, but now that we talked to the guard, it is for sale for 60 rupees. Alternatively, you can get one for free in the Kakariko Graveyard, which we covered in the previous chapter.

It also has a great amount of rocks in it that the Gorons that live nearby eat, and it is used for mining food for them. The cave is located about halfway up Death Mountain Trail. Prior to the events of the game, Ganondorf came to Death Mountain to get the Goron's Ruby from Darunia , the chief of the Gorons, who refused. Because of that, Ganondorf infested the cavern with Dodongos and sealed the entrance with a boulder. Link, who comes to Death Mountain to get the Spiritual Stone as well, is, unlike Ganondorf, able to gain the trust and respect of the Gorons. By using a Bomb Flower usable only after collection of the Goron's Bracelet [4] to destroy the boulder blocking the entrance, he is able to enter the cavern and navigate his way through it, defeating the creatures all the way through up to King Dodongo , the boss of the dungeon. In return for this, he is able to receive the Spiritual Stone from the Gorons and proceed with his quest. Dodongo's Cavern has two floors, some of which include bridges and statues.

You have a room filled with lava, three rising and falling platforms surrounding a large platform in the middle. In the center is a lone bomb plant. Hanging on the far wall is a giant Dodongo skull. In a raised alcove to the left you can see a chest but you cannot claim it, and both the left and right walls have rock walls you can destroy. Jump to the center platform. From your vantage point, find the boulder on the lower level to the left and, using the bomb plant, blow it up to reveal a button switch underneath. Jump over the lava and press the switch to activate the left platform, granting you quick access to the second floor. Back to the center, time your bomb flower to jump to the left and destroy the rock wall to claim your Dungeon Map! There is nothing else you can do in this room for now, so jump on the left platform to advance to the second floor.
