The man, the myth, the legend. Siegward, the jubilant knight of Catarina, is one of Dark Souls 3 's most memorable characters, and in a game full of memorable characters, that's saying something. The fan favorite Onion Knight is on his own journey, but he's never one to hesitate going out of his way to help you or yours. From the Undead Settlement to the Profaned Capital, Siegward has a rather long quest line but every moment of it is worth it. There are, however, a few things about Siegward and his quest line that don't make much sense. Let's take a look. One of the most notable aspects about Siegward is the distinct appearance of his armor. Siegward dons a rotund suit of armor that greatly resembles an onion, hence his nickname. The in-game description of Siegward's armor describes the reason for its shape as being better to deflect blows but even so, it doesn't make sense to go around wearing it. Wearing a suit of armor that size has to be incredibly cumbersome and outweighs any protection it could offer. If there's one thing you can count on Siegward doing it's being a ray of sunshine in an otherwise bleak world.
Alluring Skull works on him.
The cyclical nature of history is an important thematic element that runs throughout the entire Dark Souls franchise. Dark Souls 3 in particular goes out of its way to embrace this idea, right down to featuring approximations of fan favorite characters who were introduced in the original Dark Souls : one such being Siegward of Catarina. Siegward of Catarina can be found for the first time in the Undead Settlement, in a nearby chapel around where you met Eygon of Carim. Siegward will be coming up an elevator as you enter the building, allowing you to speak with him. After running through all his dialogue and exiting the area, Siegward will move to an alcove above the elevator. Return to the Undead Settlement and take the elevator. Instead of letting it carry you all the way up, roll off right when you see Siegward on the alcove.
There are two ways to get the Catarina Armor Set, and both methods require completing quests that involve Siegward of Catarina. Each armor piece is quite heavy, and can slow your movements depending on your equipment load. As previously mentioned, obtaining the Catarina Armor Set involves completing some or all of the quests for Siegward of Catarina. To explain how to get his armor, we must trek into spoiler territory regarding the storylines for these characters in Dark Souls 3. We will essentially be going over the entire quest line for Siegward, so take this as a spoiler warning. We will begin by explaining how to meet Siegward of Catarina for the first time, and when to expect to find him again throughout the game.
