She doesn't want to kill demons, but rather, she wants to find a way for the ones she cares about to live peacefully. Her efforts to find the best solution often ends with her pushing herself too hard. The anime version cuts out many of the struggles that Emma went through, making her journey seem easier than it was in the manga's version. The manga tested her ideals by introducing her to all sorts of characters, yet she was still able to stay true to her own beliefs despite the things she went through.
