Without context they are deeply exhausting to read — I say this with confidence as a ex-Christian who has suffered through reading Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy at multiple points in my life growing up. I hated Old Testament genealogies as a kid but I found the one for Jesus in the book of Matthew to be fascinating. Genealogy of the Holy War is similar to a more traditional genealogy in that way. But played with the knowledge that this game is a stepping stone to what exists now, games like Awakening and Three Houses, Genealogy of the Holy War becomes interesting in its context as a historical record. You can see the bits and pieces you recognize in an older form, reflecting on how those elements have changed and improved over time.

These twelve became the Twelve Crusaders , and under their leadership the Loptrian Empire fell after a decades-long holy war. The Crusaders then parted, with seven of them forming the Kingdom of Grannvale and its six duchies, while the other five founded their own kingdoms: Isaach , Agustria , Silesse and Thracia , which itself later partially splintered off into the Munster District. In the year Grann , war was beginning, with the bulk of Grannvale's army deployed to Isaach in retaliation for what they perceived to be an unprovoked strike against Dahna. With no perceived opposition, King Batu of neighboring Verdane took the opportunity to launch an invasion of Grannvale at the behest of Sandima of the Loptrians, and his son Munnir conquered Yngvi Castle and abducted its Lady Edain.
