Erin and Chris Benzakein moved from Seattle, Floret flowers to the Skagit Valley in order to pursue a slower, floret flowers, simpler life and raise their children surrounded by nature. Soon after buying a small house in the country, they tilled up their plot in order to create a huge garden.
She's describing the sea of dahlias she grows in Washington State's Skagit Valley, where late-summer days start foggy and cool, with plants covered in dew, and the sunrise seems to sprinkle everything in glitter. That's the wonder of Floret Flower Farm , a family-run operation focused on seed production, breeding, research, and education that is also a thriving seed-and-bulb business and a Martha Stewart American Made winner. Says Benzakein, "We wait all year for this window of time. Fifteen years ago, Benzakein was just a novice gardener. One fall day, she helped a friend dig up her tubers, took some home as a gift, and planted them in her vegetable garden the following spring. The sheer abundance and variety of blooms that popped up a few months later blew her away. And once you're hooked, the sky's the limit.

Research is at the heart of our operation, and we conduct extensive trials to find the very best cut flower varieties, coveted for their scent, stem length, and ethereal qualities, and share our findings with the world. We are working on breeding new cut flower varieties which we lovingly call Floret Originals that will help give local growers an advantage in the marketplace and open up a whole new world of possibilities for the seasonal flower movement. Growing Floret is a documentary series that chronicles Floret, a family-run flower farm located in the Skagit River Valley of Washington State. Founders Erin and Chris Benzakein have spent the last 15 years building their business, now considered by many to be one of the most well-known flower farms in the world.
