My thoughts are to run the dual pipe back farther underneath and leave the O2 bung connection with the bung plugged as a crossover.

Automakers have developed and built countless engines over the years, but few have achieved what you might call legendary status. The Ford cubic-inch inline-six is undoubtedly one of them. Even with meticulous upkeep they lose compression, crack castings, and blow head gaskets. Two of them from thrown rods, of all things. No one I know has had a running six for almost ten years now.
