Any more experience bear lads have any pointers, weak auras or addon to help. When using it defensively as dps you have to wait for 2 gcs, its bad. As feral, I find that I only really use it when I would have shifted into bear form anyway to mitigate some kind of damage effect that has been telegraphed. Bear form for the additional armor, then Frenzied Regen to heal off the damage that got through it. You can bleed then up as cat and aoe them down in bear form while regen keeps you topped. I kind of wish it could just be used in any form or at least persist once you already started it.
