After seeing so many FTL tier lists floating around on the Internet, I decided that I might as well put one together myself and post it here on my website. I've divided the 28 ships into five main tiers based around different levels of overall strength. Some villeroy the intra-tier ranking was truly splitting hairs, however, and these ships should be regarded as roughly even in strength.

This can be because of the great flexibility, cost efficiency or other utility that the weapon provides over other options within or across weapon categories. Given the randomisation mechanics at the core of Faster Than Light players can not always rely on these best weapons alone though which is why this guide also provides an overview of every single weapon should you need to rely on them. Note that this list is based on the Advanced Edition update which changes some weapon mechanics and introduces new options from the standard base game.

Another bomb option although slightly less power efficient than the small bomb it can still be extremely devastating to systems and allows you to follow up your other weapons with extra damage.

I think the Artemis missile launcher may be found in stores but I've never seen one, so I'm not putting it on the list for now. If I had to, it would probably be amazing tier.
Weapon shots can collide with each other, or with asteroids , drones , and hacking drones. These collisions can be accidental or planned example. Beams and ASB shots do not collide with anything. Crew damage depends on the weapon type used: beams only damage crew when hitting the tile the crew is standing on, while all the other weapons do damage to everyone in the room they hit. Every 1 point of system damage from a weapon deals 15 damage to crew. Fire Bomb and Breach Bomb 1 do 30 crew damage, despite only doing 0 and 1 system damage respectively; Anti-bio Beam does 60 crew damage.

Finally, the Crystal A also begins the game with the Crystal Vengeance, which basically means that it starts the game with an extra 40 scrap after selling the useless augment at a store. This should be paired with another laser or flak weapon to ensure enemy shields are always on the back foot along with a weapon for dealing direct damage to an enemy. In FTL, you take command of a spacecraft that must navigate a dangerous galaxy full of hostile aliens and other obstacles.
Rock A is therefore very much a low-tier ship that avoids the bottom of the barrel by virtue of becoming decent once the starting weapons are completely replaced. Offering a huge amount of length the 1 damage on this weapon can be misleading as on the larger ships you can hit nearly every single room for a respectable amount of damage. Instead, it uses a pair of Ion Blasts to set up an ion cascade, with the goal of repeatedly hitting the enemy ship with ion damage and keeping its shields permanently offline. How would I ever have enough drone parts for that? First, it's possible to pull your attackers more quickly off the enemy ship in case of danger - there's no Cloning Bay here if someone dies. I know that T-Hawk wrote the same thing at Realms Beyond a while back, and I came to the same conclusion as well. That's not a Dual Laser, that's a Basic Laser. The poor vessels in Tier 5 simply have horrendous, crippling disadvantages with little in the way of positives. I've placed the Mantis A right next to the Mantis C on this list. The game considers the little crystal shots to be missiles, in other words. In other words, all of these ships can be good with the right upgrades. The fact that Rock A lacks any crippling weaknesses in the rest of its setup is the main reason why it doesn't get ranked any lower on this tier list. Unfortunately, it's hard to justify locking up 2 weapon power and a weapon slot on the thing as the enemy ships begin to ramp up in difficulty. A Defensive Drone II can also wreck havoc by shooting down all of the ion shots. Tack on the Rock Plating augment again, and there's some nice stuff to play around with on this ship.
