For many first-time-in-college and transfer students transitioning to the University of Central Florida UCF can be stressful. To help position students to thrive academically and professionally, UCF offers Strategies for Student Success SLS , a three-credit hour elective course designed to help students transition to college life and become highly competitive UCF Knights. SLS teaches students important academic and study skills that will assist them in building a strong academic foundation. Students taking the course learn how to confidently perform college-level tasks, such as:. Stacey Malaret, who teaches the online version of SLS SLS has been designated an integrative-learning experience course, meaning that students are not just introduced to a topic but have corresponding assignments that require them to put those concepts into action. Courses earn that distinction by making lessons and assignments easy to understand and by including interactive elements. SLS is geared towards incoming students, but anyone can take the course. Anthropology of the Undead, or ANT,is a class on all things spooky and dead. Taught by Professor Sandra Wheeler, this class focuses mainly on how the deceased have affected our culture. Wheeler hopes students gain an appreciation of the contemporary world by studying the undead, and perhaps even shatter their assumptions about the natural and supernatural world. A class that looks into the cognitive science of humans, animals and Professor Luis Favela, who teaches the course this semester, described the class as genuinely interdisciplinary.

Theatre Survey THE — Great class to take if you enjoy learning about the history of acting from Shakespeare to today. A wild class! By the end of the course, students will have a basic knowledge of theatre and will know how to explain and analyze a performance experience. You practice each video two times a week and write one entry each week on your experience.
