Future trunks super saiyan rage
Though he was stronger than ever, Future Trunks still returned to the prime Dragon Ball timeline for assistance from Goku and the Z Fighters against a new threat menacing his alternate future: the villainous Zamasu.
Future Trunks is undoubtedly a standout character from Dragon Ball Z , and his return in Dragon Ball Super was a perplexing yet welcome start to the series' fourth saga. While Trunks' character did have a few emotional moments with his father and younger alternate self, there was one particular aspect of his development that seemed a bit out of place for his character. This, of course, pertains to the debut of Super Saiyan Rage, a new transformation specific to Trunks, which played an important role in the final battle against Goku Black and Future Zamasu. Although Trunks had attained the strength level of Super Saiyan 2 after his last appearance in Dragon Ball Z , this new form came almost out of the blue, and its place in the series' power scale as a whole has confused fans for quite some time now. In fact, the main conflict of the Future Trunks Saga may have been resolved in a better way without the introduction of this transformation, which was riddled with inaccuracies in many respects. Ultimately, Super Saiyan Rage existed as little more than a plot device to conclude the arc's storyline, which raises questions about whether it was really necessary to begin with.

Shin : Indeed!
Like the Super Saiyan and Super Saiyan 2 transformations, the form is gained through intense rage. In the anime, Future Trunks attains it due to his absolute rage at Goku Black and Zamasu blaming him for everything that had happened. The aura is golden with the same dense, flowing appearance as the Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan forms' auras and Trunks gains a blue glow around his body. His aura also emits dense, blue lightning. Trunks' hair spikes up even further than in his Super Saiyan 2 form and takes on an even more golden color.
Within the series, he is the half- Saiyan half-human son of Vegeta and Bulma and has at least two noteworthy incarnations. The present-timeline incarnation of Trunks is introduced as an infant during the story arc which features the first appearance of the Red Ribbon Androids. Akira Toriyama stated that it was difficult to decide on Present Trunks' voice. The producer at Toei Animation and the editorial department discussed that, perhaps, it would be better if they changed to a different voice actor for the child version. At that time, the serialization was still going on, and Toriyama did not know how the manga story would end; young Trunks might have ended up growing up and the story might have continued to the same time period when teenage Trunks returned to the future. In that case, if the voice actor would have been changed, it would have sounded strange. Eventually, Kusao ended up also voicing Trunks as a child and, after listening a few times, Toriyama felt that it was the right choice. In the English-language dub by Funimation , Eric Vale voices him both as a teen and as an adult in all Dragon Ball media, [4] while Laura Bailey voices him as a child in the series, as well as the movie, Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods , as well as the other non-canon movies. Trunks possesses several abilities including superhuman strength, speed, reflexes, and energy blasts, which can be utilized by the use of ki. Both incarnations of Trunks have access to the Super Saiyan transformation, although their achievement of this form differs between incarnation.

Though he was stronger than ever, Future Trunks still returned to the prime Dragon Ball timeline for assistance from Goku and the Z Fighters against a new threat menacing his alternate future: the villainous Zamasu. As the final battle against Zamasu raged, the evil god merged two alternate versions of himself from alternate timelines to become even more terrifyingly powerful. But, pushed to the very brink, Future Trunks unveiled a new transformation of his own that turned the tide of battle against his divine enemy: Super Saiyan Rage. Even with this transformation in hand, Future Trunks was still unable to defend his world from Goku Black , a version of Goku from an alternate timeline whose body was possessed by Zamasu. And as the Z Fighters joined Future Trunks in his own timeline to take on Merged Zamasu, it was ultimately up to Trunks to deal the final blow against the villain using Super Saiyan Rage, which is now Trunks' most powerful transformation yet in the official Dragon Ball canon. Super Saiyan Rage resembles the Legendary Super Saiyan transformation most associated with Broly, as with both forms, the users' pupils disappear, their muscle mass slightly increases and they enter a near-uncontrollable berserk state as they give into their raw anger. Given how much stronger Future Trunks becomes while using the form, it's clear that Super Saiyan Rage is significantly more powerful than Super Saiyan 2, catching Zamasu off-guard long enough for Trunks to cleave him in two, just in time for Future Zeno to erase all traces of the god and his destroyed future.

He only appears in the cutscenes and gameplay of DLC 4's story mode. Super Saiyan Rage. But isn't in a state of tranquillity like his father or Goku. In the anime, Future Trunks attains it due to his absolute rage at Goku Black and Zamasu blaming him for everything that had happened. Although the latter feature could be an indication of Future Trunks harnessing God ki, this was not confirmed, and it does not have any real grounds to be true, since he never really trained to use it in the first place. Post by SupremeKai25 » Mon Jun 14, am It was really just an asspull form given to Trunks so that he could stand a semblance of a chance against Black and Zamasu the arc was named "Future Trunks arc" after all. While serving on the Time Patrol, Xeno Trunks is shown achieving Super Saiyan 3 and the Super Saiyan God transformation , able to wield a divine sword capable of vanquishing some of the Xenoverse's greatest enemies. In this form, he possesses the same intense blue glow his original Rage form had, as well as an initially white aura that eventually expands into a fiery blue aura. SSJ is no longer a static set of transformations but a fluid one based on the user's needs. The next person to achieve the form would be Riku during the battle against Bitter.
The Super Saiyan transformation is an iconic element of Dragon Ball Z and the series has iterated on it with new forms ever since its introduction. Goku first unlocked the Super Saiyan transformation during the Namek Saga, and since then, the franchise has introduced a total of 21 variations and upgrades. While not all of these transformations are available to every Saiyan, each of them has been used by a Saiyan at some point in the broader Dragon Ball canon.
The mastered SS3 theory doesn't work for me because it would've been much better to just give him SS3 and say he has fully mastered the form without having to change the actual appearence of SS3. His power was enough to fracture the ground with every step. Maybe his training with Vegeta had something to do with it, it could be that his body was somehow infused or adapted to the SSB energy when he fought Vegeta, hence why a layer of his aura is blue, but again this is pure headcanon. Super Saiyan Rage makes its debut appearance in Dragon Ball Z: Dokkan Battle , however it appears in the game simply as the Super Saiyan transformation - albeit powered up through anger to gain super power. When transforming for the first time, Future Trunks' eruption of force resembled a colossal geyser of golden ki that temporarily lit up the darkened sky and sent massive ripples of blue lightning across the desolate landscape.
