That system used a metric known as Dragon Kill Points to track participation in group activities. After being an active member of enough boss kills with the same group, players would have accumulated enough Dragon Kill Points to spend on a piece of gear when it dropped in a future raid run. GDKP runs are relatively different even though they share a similar name to the Dragon Kill Points system that was previously popular among the player base. Whenever an item drops for a group during a GDKP run, interested players can bid on the loot with however much gold they want to spend. In turn, players who were outbid on the item or are uninterested in it get an even share of the gold the winning player spent. For example, if Player A bids 1, gold on an item, and Player B bids 2, gold on the same item, Player B wins the item, but the other players in the raid including Player A each receive an even cut of the 2, gold that Player B spent on it. But with the revelation of the second phase, the devs want to remove the system.

Restricting GDKP raids is just giving into a very loud vocal minority. This means that players who have more gold to bid with have a higher chance of getting the loot they want.

Dragon kill points or DKP are a semi-formal score-keeping system loot system used by guilds in massively multiplayer online games. Players in these games are faced with large scale challenges, or raids , which may only be surmounted through the concerted effort of dozens of players at a time. While many players may be involved in defeating a boss , the boss will reward the group with only a small number of items desired by the players. Faced with this scarcity, some system of fairly distributing the items must be established. Used originally in the massively multiplayer online role-playing game EverQuest , dragon kill points are points that are awarded to players for defeating bosses and redeemed for items that those bosses would "drop". At the time, most of the bosses faced by the players were dragons , hence the name. While not transferable outside of a particular guild, DKP are often treated in a manner similar to currency by guilds.
