The Marvel Cinematic Universe is constantly setting up new heroes and villains for future appearances, and the franchise is finally set to pay off a tease from 's Iron Man 2. The MCU has been committed to its idea of a shared universe since Iron Man 's post-credit scene featured Nick Fury mentioning The Avengers, but as the franchise has grown, so too has the interconnected web of teases and set-ups. There aren't many Easter eggs or mentions yet to be paid off from the MCU Phase 1, but one of the few remaining will finally be explored on the small screen. Marvel's What If? What If?

Tom comes from a very driven and academic family, and like his uncle he has a brilliant mind. His higher than mean-average intelligence and the influence of several good people enabled him to attend MIT, where he acquired a degree in biochemistry, particle physics, and quantum mechanics. After graduating, Tom went on to work for Pym Technologies. Tom kept his discovery a secret because of the potential danger of Pym Particles falling into the wrong hands. Tom built himself a size alteration suit based on the Ant-Man Suit, and used it to become the hero Goliath, an ally to Ant-Man and Wasp. Goliath Suit : Tom Foster deciphered the formula of Pym Particles and used them to power his own size alteration suit, the Goliath Suit. Goliath uses his suit and his own supply of Pym Particles to increase his size to a maximus safe limit of approximately twenty-five feet in height. These particles allow Goliath to expand his body mass. Unlike Ant-Man, there appear to be no limits on how long Goliath can remain in his expanded form. Goliath gains superhuman attributes in proportion with his increased height.
