The folks at Got Friends have a reputation for creating some impressive content. Sometimes that content is of the conventional add-on aircraft variety and sometimes they go and do something a little bit different. Got Friends sent me the Avitar: Valor pack in exchange for a review of the product. As always, my thoughts are my own and Got Friends gets to read this review at the same time that you do. Most of its free and some of it is paid. Those are the free options. These are not based on any specific person and are instead fictional, though realistically realized, characters with American style pilot gear.

In the works for over 2-years, the folks at Got Friends have build up a collection of some truly varied airplanes from their recent and quirky Double Ender bushplane to the futuristic Astro ONE and now on to something even closer to my heart — a warbird! Here are a few first impressions of their F4F Wildcat as I put this airplane through its paces. Its not painted in the same brush that the Hellcat, Corsair, Mustang and Spitfire are but its nonetheless revered among warbird fans as being the fighter that held the line at some of the Pacific Wars biggest battles — Coral Sea, Midway and Guadalcanal spring to mind almost immediately. Here the attention turns to the Wildcat and giving it character. With live weather enabled the airport appears to be experiencing some issues because 0 wind as reported by the real world Metar appeared to give me hurricane force winds tipping the F4F over. I set some custom weather and things got better immediately. This feels very much like the classic Pacific Fighters F4F albeit in a very different sim and context. Slowly at first but more quickly over time. Typical Wildcat! I did some turns, rolls, stalls, loops and accelerated stalls with the airplane over the next little while and had a ton of fun with it.

These airplanes have been created for MSFS by partner developers such as Milviz, iniBuilds, BlueMesh, and others, and offer a wide variety of experiences that range from the busy life of flying an airliner to the pioneering feats made possible with historic airplanes from the early stages of powered flight. Most of these airplanes come with just the standard set of features in terms of modeling, with limited variants or the lack of some effects. This Expansion Pack aims to add some new features to the airplanes released under the 40th Anniversary Edition, such as new wheel choices, floats, smoke and water spray effects, and more. This unofficial expansion pack is available for free and is getting chaptered released that target specific aircraft.

Since they did most livery painters have forgotten about them as well, so almost no new repaints for the bush version anymore. The Avitar: Valor series are probably the most impressive overall with animations and texture detailing on the leather jackets, headsets, oxygen masks and more. Got Friends kickstarted with the release of a new glider for Microsoft Flight Simulator, the Discus-2c. This freeware aircraft has allowed glider pilots to soar in the skies of MSFS with no external apps, since it includes a built-in Winch Launch Control system and even some special weather presets designed to generate thermals.
