First debuted in , the Sport Classic was a bike that was retro-styled long before the eruption of the whole cafe racer revival. Designed by Pierre Terblanche, the Ducati Sport Classic GT paid homage to the Ducati race bikes of the s with its bikini fairing, round headlight, massive and muscular fuel tank, and sporty ergonomics. Undoubtedly, the Ducati Sport Classic GT is more than worthy of a second glance—and in and of itself, is a pretty rare motorcycle. Apparently not, as this is precisely the motorcycle the guys at Greaser Garage in Genoa, Italy, used as a platform for one of their most stunning customs. Desiring first and foremost, to differentiate their build in the sea of chopped up, heavily modified builds, the team at Greaser Garage chose to meticulously customize the Ducati Sport Classic in a way that would remain in tune with the rich culture and history the bike was built to represent. Instead of crafting a totally new creation out of the Sport Classic, the trio set out to enhance the already stunning beauty created by Pierre Terblanche. Combining vintage style and well known Ducati performance was already the defining feature of the Sport Classic GT, so when the owner of this particular bike contracted the services of Greaser Garage, and requested the team to give his bike a new and refreshing look, the team decided to incorporate elements that took inspiration from Ducati tradition, as well as the Paul Smart race bike from the seventies and the MH

Much to the dismay of the Ducatista, we listed the Ducati Sport Classic range as one of the worst factory customs ever made. It was due to the fact that when they were released no one was buying them. It was a case of being too far ahead of the curve. At the time of their release, firebreathing Sports Bikes were all the rage. Sales were slow and after only 5 years of production, Ducati pulled the pin. Today, however, in a time when the words retro and cool go together like beards and lattes, the Sport Classics would have been hot property. And in the secondhand market, they are.
