I bought a fully legit, physical copy of GTA4 years ago, complete with serial number and everything. I never ended up installing it because my computer couldn't run the game with it's integrated graphics. Now its many years later and I have a very powerful machine and I found this game kicking around in my closet. So I installed it and everything went great, until it was time to activate. I don't know if it's really "activation" , they call it activation at one point but they just call it a release date check at another point. But either way, it fails. It has a link to manually click on if automatic activation fails.

It says "Can't sign in because you've exceeded the usage allowed by your product key. Please enter another product key". I bought it from steam, does the key have a usage limit? Now it is not working anymore.

The "release date check" will always fail, you need to set your computer's date to or and then start the process, it will activate successfully. Still works fine.
