This new code of criminal procedures should enter into force on June 24, and repeal the current penal code. Let's recall that the Haitian code of criminal investigation currently in force, of Napoleonic inspiration, was promulgated in , in the 19th century and has not undergone any major change in years. The provisions contained in this code, in addition to their disuse, in no way allow the fundamental rights of citizens to be fully respected within the framework of the guarantees enshrined in the Constitution and the international conventions ratified by the Haitian State, this explains that an overhaul of this code was necessary.
