The youngest Hamato in the family, the four year old child of Hamato clan and Shiho. Emiko is the eldest of Ayumi's children, and Splinter's neice.

At some point, a bitter feud between them and the Foot Clan developed and would lead to centuries of warfare. At a certain point in the late 20th century, the Hamato Clan would finish off the Foot Clan, rendering them functionally extinct, save for a lone survivor in the form of the infant Oruku Saki, who would be adopted by the leader of the Hamato Clan. Sixteen years ago, the Hamato Clan was on the verge of ending when the chosen heir in Hamato Yoshi was divided between leading the clan or starting a new life in the United States with his new family in Tang Shen and his daughter. However, betrayal would come when Oruku Saki would discover his origins and fully enraged by this and the loss of Tang Shen, exploited the decision to rebuild the Foot Clan, with most of the Hamato Clan defecting to join their former enemy. Yoshi fled to New York and a year later decided to adopt four pet turtles for company. Right as he left the pet store, he was trapped by strange men and splashed with Mutagen by accident.

Its members are practitioners of Ninjutsu. The clan now has been reduced to Master Splinter , the Turtles , and several others after Oroku Saki's betrayal. Saki was the son of the Foot Clan leader and as an infant, and he was adopted by the Hamato Clan after the Foot Clan was wiped out. Yoshi and Saki grew up together and viewed one another as brothers until the two began to compete for the love of Tang Shen , a beautiful young woman. Eventually, Saki found out that he once belonged to the Foot Clan and felt betrayed, rebuild his birth clan, and he faced Splinter in combat and burned down his family dojo; Shen was accidentally killed by Saki. Saki effectively extinguished the Hamato Clan by turning its remaining ninjas to his side. Splinter managed to leave his fight with Saki alive, however, and moved to New York City where he bought four baby turtles.

They help solidify his youth and inexperience in this adaptation. Amazon Chaser : Karai, a hamato clan that kicks his ass the first time they meet, is the closest thing to a love interest he has, hamato clan. Once the situation is settled, Splinter acknowledges his mistake and apologizes for letting his fear infect them.

Karai denounced what her father had become, and founded the Hamato Clan with the purpose of opposing the Shredder. Over the centuries, the Hamato Clan dwindled, until the present day when Hamato Yoshi was the last known survivor. Yoshi, who at this time preferred to go by the name Splinter, squatted in the sewers of New York City with his sons until they were teenagers, and grew unathletic from a sedentary lifestyle. They befriended a human from the surface named April O'Neil multiple years prior to , who since then became not only a close friend of the Turtles but like a sister to them. In , Splinter and his family learned of a weapon to defeat the Shredder existing in the Twilight Realm during their ongoing conflict with the Foot Clan, which Draxum, now their ally had become acknowledged as the Turtles' second father, helped them retrieve. This weapon was actually a person: Karai herself, sealed away since the s. The Turtles immediately accepted Karai as their grandmother and were eager to know her as family who had been absent throughout their lives.

In General 11th-Hour Superpower : In the series finale the entire Hamato Clan is taught to unlock their ancestral power of Hamato Ninpo by drawing upon their familial love. This drastically closes the gap between them and Shredder. Accents Aren't Hereditary : While Splinter has a clear Japanese accent, none of the turtles have this accent. Justified in that the turtles grew up in New York and Splinter is actually from Japan. Adaptational Badass : Though they are less experienced than some of their other versions , they also possess actual superpowers thanks to their mystic weapons that allow them to perform feats that their counterparts could only dream of. You're probably not going to see any other version of Leonardo redirecting enemy attacks by spamming portals or Michelangelo hurling a giant tanker for instance.

This version of Donatello is notably less of a Gentleman Snarker than the previous versions and more of a typical Deadpan Snarker. And he's pretty much the only hero even up to now who can fight and defeat Shredder — who is an Invincible Villain — in any capacity. The Big Guy : As with many of other versions, Raphael is the strongest of the Turtles; whenever there's a need for brute strength, he's the turtle to call. Leo even calls on him specifically to make a few throws. She actually joins the team and gets trained by Splinter, becoming able to defeat Ralph in sparring.
