We are looking for a creative and enthusiastic Marketing Intern to support three imprints at The HarperOne Group: HarperVia, an international fiction and nonfiction imprint, HarperCollins Espanol, publishing a wide array of books in Spanish, and Amistad, publishing books by and for the Black diaspora. This internship is based in NYC on a hybrid schedule. The intern will provide research and administrative support to help the marketing team deliver innovative campaigns. The intern will also have the opportunity to feed ideas into and create content for some of the social channels within these imprints. All interns work Monday through Thursday, for a total of 28 hours per week. As a HarperCollins intern, you will learn about the entire publishing process - following one book from beginning to end while hearing from the people who worked on it in our weekly lunch and learn series. You will work on a publishing project throughout the summer with your fellow interns and have the opportunity to present your findings to senior staff. The recruitment team is searching for applicants who identify with groups that are traditionally underrepresented in the publishing industry.

The Book Trade Charity offers financial support to people looking to enter the book trade but who may struggle to afford the costs of attending interviews and undertaking internships or entry level positions. This was big! And a day later, I received an email asking for me to call them, so I knew this had to be good news! For my application, I filled all the required information and included a cover letter and resume also required. My internships in the past have also been in design but in different fields such as fashion and media. I also researched any recent news I could find about the company and imprint. The whole process took around a month from the initial contact to my starting day. In my one-page cover letter, I wrote about why I wanted to work at HarperCollins as opposed to other publishers , the skills and experience that proved my capabilities for this role, and my dual love for design and books. It was a short call about the responsibilities and tasks I would be taking on as an intern. Immediately after, I messaged Alex letting her know who freaked out a lot more on my behalf.
