Heidi M. Murphy joined the University of Georgia School of Law in the fall of as the director of communications and public relations. She works to promote a positive image of the law school to alumni, donors and the general public through various means - alumni publications, admissions materials, Web presence and communication with the media. She also serves as a law school spokesperson and an external representative in various settings. Murphy began her professional career in advertising as a media planner. In , she moved to Tasmania, Australia, where she served as marketing manager for the Tasmanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. In this role, she produced all of the chamber's communication vehicles and oversaw its membership initiatives.

She lives in Andover, New Hampshire, with her husband and their two boys, ages 11 and Being a conservation officer, people ask me all the time if I grew up hunting and fishing. I did not. I grew up fishing a little bit, but not hunting. I grew up in Woodsville, New Hampshire, with four sisters. We had a tree in our yard that we liked to climb, and we played outside all the time. We went hiking a lot as a family, and we camped a lot. My dad was a state trooper for 30 years. He had a bloodhound named Oscar, and sometimes we would help train Oscar by hiding in the woods. That was fun and seemed like a big deal.

Starting in community radio in Brisbane, before moving through Townsville, the Gold Coast and then to various stations in Melbourne, Murphy has seen it all. As a producer, it is her job to find stories and topics for the show on any given day, source interviews for these topics, and oversee the production of the show as a whole. She says it can also be her biggest challenge, as some are less willing to help than others. While producing for radio was a completely new role for her, Murphy has always had a nose for the news. While social media can be a blessing for their work at times, it can also be a curse. Public figures often use it as their own personal media outlet, which Murphy says can make it difficult to hold them accountable. Working as a freelance TV reporter for the Weekend Today show over the past two years has had its challenges, and she says the extra job has affirmed her love for radio.
