Hemo gastritis
Canine haemorrhagic gastroenteritis Hemo gastritis is a disorder of dogs characterised by sudden onset of vomiting or diarrhoea, containing variable amounts of blood.
Acute hemorrhagic gastritis is an important cause of upper gastrointestinal bleeding, accounting for approximately one fourth of UGI bleeding in endoscopic studies. Most patients with hemorrhagic gastritis have underlying predisposing conditions, such as alcohol abuse, portal hypertension, short- or long-term NSAID use, and physiologic stress associated with hospitalization in an ICU for severe life-threatening disease or trauma. The key to management is prevention; however, once established, hemorrhagic gastritis is treated with both supportive measures and measures directed toward healing the mucosal damage. In general, therapy is the same as that for classic peptic ulcer disease. These patients present a challenge, however, because of their underlying diseases and because of the potential for diffuse mucosal bleeding, the latter making the use of endoscopic therapy more difficult. Surgery is an option of last resort for the patient who continues to bleed despite aggressive medical and endoscopic therapy.

Acute hemorrhagic diarrhea syndrome in dogs is characterized by both acute vomiting and diarrhea. Prompt IV fluid therapy is the main treatment. Parenteral antibiotics may also be helpful, especially if there is sepsis or neutropenia. Acute hemorrhagic diarrhea syndrome AHDS in dogs is characterized by acute vomiting and hemorrhagic diarrhea , often accompanied by hemoconcentration. The precise etiology and pathogenesis are unclear. Acute hemorrhagic diarrhea syndrome may be the result of infection with or hypersensitivity to Clostridium perfringens. Clostridium spp have been identified by bacterial culture or immunohistopathology in small-intestinal biopsies from dogs with AHDS, suggesting an association with clostridial overgrowth. Leakage of fluid, plasma proteins, and RBCs into the intestinal lumen occurs secondary to increased intestinal permeability. An acute onset of profuse hemorrhagic diarrhea often said to resemble raspberry jam in a small or toy breed dog is characteristic of AHDS. Vomiting, anorexia, lethargy, and abdominal pain are common. Vomiting may precede the onset of bloody diarrhea. Marked, peracute fluid loss can result in hypovolemic shock before clinically recognizable dehydration.
The stimulated gastric acid secretion increases internal pH and gastric mucosal damage Nam et al. In general, hemo gastritis, therapy is the same as that for classic peptic ulcer disease. Severe hypovolemia low blood volume is one of the hallmarks of the disease, and severe hemoconcentration concentrated blood is considered necessary hemo gastritis diagnosis.

To date, studies on the protective effects of HemoHIM against gastritis and gastric ulcers have not been conducted. Discussion and conclusions: Based on the results, HemoHIM is potential candidate for the treatment of gastritis and gastric ulcers. Recently, the prevalence of gastric injury is rising due to environmental factors such as the increased consumption of fatty foods, smoking, stress, alcohol, and Helicobacter pylori infection, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs NSAIDs Satyanarayana ; Kim et al. This inflammatory disease of the gastrointestinal mucous membrane is called gastritis, which is more likely to develop into chronic gastritis, gastric ulcer when the damage is more advanced than mucous plates Lee et al.

GI bleeding is a symptom of a disease or condition, rather than a disease or condition itself. The symptoms of GI bleeding depend on the location and how severe your bleeding is. Many different conditions can cause bleeding in your GI tract. To diagnose GI bleeding, a doctor will first find the site of the bleeding.

Gastrointestinal GI bleeding is a sign of a disorder in the digestive tract. The blood often shows up in stool or vomit but isn't always obvious. Stool may look black or tarry. Bleeding can range from mild to severe and can be life-threatening. Imaging technology or an endoscopic investigation can usually locate the cause of the bleeding. Treatment depends on the where the bleeding is located and how severe it is. Symptoms of GI bleeding can be easy to see, called overt, or not so obvious, known as occult. Symptoms depend on the rate of bleeding as well as the location of the bleed, which can be anywhere on the GI tract, from where it starts — the mouth — to where it ends — the anus.

If HGE is treated quickly it is likely your dog will make a full recovery within a few days. The rate of isotonic fluid administration is based on patient perfusion, degree of dehydration, and ongoing losses. Therefore, HemoHIM could effectively suppress the damage by eliminating the free radicals which can directly cause injury. Kwon, and Y. Open in a separate window. Lipid peroxidation induced by indomethacin with horseradish peroxidase and hydrogen peroxide: involvement of indomethacin radicals. Thus, HemoHIM may be a good candidate for treatment and prevention of gastritis and gastric ulcers, due to the excellent effects of the herbal ingredients. In general, therapy is the same as that for classic peptic ulcer disease.
An upper endoscopy procedure involves passing a long, flexible tube called an endoscope down the throat and into the esophagus. A tiny camera on the end of the endoscope lets a medical specialist to examine the esophagus, stomach and the beginning of the small intestine, called the duodenum.
