The new Hollow Knight fanmade mod called Pale Court adds a ton of exciting and good-looking new content to Team Cherry's indie masterpiece. This content will hopefully hold over the diehard fans who continue to wait for the delayed release of Hollow Knight: Silksong. The original Hollow Knight is a little over six years old, but the fans certainly haven't forgotten it. As the release of its sequel continues to be pushed back, much to the chagrin of the fans, many continue to go back and replay the original, exploring its large, cavernous map and taking on its numerous challenging bosses over and over again to fill the void left by a lack of new content. Thankfully, some fans have taken it upon themselves to fill that void, and thus, the Pale Court mod was born.

It adds boss fights for all four of the knights all except for Ogrim , who is already in the base game into the game world and includes "dream" versions of the bosses with upgraded difficulty of all five to Godhome, including "The Champion's Call", a Pantheon-style boss rush of all five. It also adds Tiso as a "secret" boss, four new equippable charms, a new platforming challenge in the Abyss, and additional dialogue and story scenes with the knights. The art, animation, voice acting, and design are all flawless, and if you didn't tell me this was a mod I would never guess that it wasn't part of the original game. It was also very moving to get to see fully realized designs for all five of the knights. They are such a mysterious but powerful presence in the lore, and it took my breath away to see them in motion, hear them speak, and even get to meet them as equals. The Hollow Knight mod Pale Court launched a few days ago after years of work by dozens of modders , and it is so big and beautiful that this fan-made DLC legitimately looks official. The release date trailer dropped last month — ahead of the July 1 launch, the new trailer for which has been flagged by YouTube for some reason — and demonstrated just how ambitious the Pale Court really is. The mod, which you can download here you'll need the Scarab mod manager too , focuses on "Hallownest's greatest champions" in a boss rush tournament arc. The focus is on five main bosses, with whispers of a secret extra one, but Pale Court also comes with a boatload of new content that ripples out across the original game. There are new charms, for one, and players quickly worked out that some of them might be a little overtuned. There's new art and music which fits right in with developer Team Cherry's style, as well as new dialogue as well as some voice work. The background art and boss behavior are top-shelf. Especially given Hollow Knight's established love of boss rushes, it's easy to picture this as an official DLC.
